Our popular village school has seven classes, which are all attractive and a happy place to be. We have a dedicated and professional team of teachers and support staff who ensure that each and every child has a rich and positive learning experience filled with challenges and excitement. Children at our school do very well with many achieving beyond their potential in national testing. We believe that this is not the whole picture and that whilst attainment is important, education is about individual children being the best they can be. Our ‘start with a story’ topic approach to teaching and learning ensures entitlement for all children to an enriched learning experience which is active, enjoyable and flexible to their needs.
The heart of Lostock Gralam is our children who are nurtured and valued in order to achieve their full potential. At Lostock Gralam we strive to develop the whole individual child and encourage our children and our staff to be the best they can be.
“The aspirational drive to raise achievement has led to a culture of high expectations and an outstandingcurriculum” SIAMS October’16
We are very proud of our school and its family ethos – underpinned by Christian values which were recognised in our outstanding SIAMS inspection “A huge sense of community, a deep love of children and a passion for learning are at the heart of this aspirational and inclusive Christian family” (October 2016).
“Pastoral care is outstanding. The children’s behaviour is of the highest standard and is driven by the embedded values of love, compassion and forgiveness”.
At Lostock we set the highest possible standards in every area of the curriculum and pay a high value to the crucial role personal, social and emotional development play in a child’s learning journey. We are proud to have an extensive PSHE curriculum embedded as part of our school.
“Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is a particular strength giving older children opportunities to take responsibility for younger ones through your ‘buddies’ system” Ofsted February 2017
We strive to prepare our children for a fulfilling role in society and believe that the partnership between home, school and the community is central to preparing our children for the adult world. The ‘school’s excellent engagement with parents and carers and its highly effective use of a range of partnerships, all contribute significantly.
“Because of its distinctive, open, welcoming and affirming ethos as a Christian family, the school has a clear awareness of its central role at the heart of the parish and community pupils’ learning and to their considerable well-being” SIAMS October 2016
Please enjoy spending time on the website and finding out more about our school. If you are new to the area or just want to come and see some of the special things we do, please contact the school to arrange a visit. For our existing families we hope the website gives you another means of sharing and celebrating what we do.
