Good Morning Goldfinches,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend- it was lovely to have the sun back again wasn't it! We enjoyed watching the storm on Saturday evening too!

You might be feeling that it's getting hard to motivate yourselves as much as you were at the beginning of Lockdown but just remember, this will end eventually and we just need to try and do the best we can in the meantime.

Try to remember the importance of exercising to help you lift your mood and help your motivation- do a yoga session or Joe Wicks or one of our own circuits with the ideas from last Wednesday's discussion.

School Jobs:

English: Today we are going to look at some more activites from Blue John. I have made a little teaching video to see if I can help you with some ideas. Have a look at the attached activities sheet first then pop the video on so I can talk you through what we are going to do and read you Chapter 2. I know it's not a real life lesson but we will see how this goes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ri5V4-Zp3lc&feature=youtu.be

Perhaps you could let me know on one of our discussions this week how these lessons went.

Spellings: We will be practising spelling words with different suffixes to make word families. Have a go at writing the root word in one colour and the suffix in another colour.

Times Tables: Use your knowledge of the 4x table to learn the 40x table. Can you do the 400x table or even the 0.4x table?

Art/Geography/Science:

Today Zoos around the country are being allowed to reopen so thank you to everyone who shared their voice by making a little video clip. This was a really fast response from the Government!

Conservation and looking after our environment is very important to us all at Lostock Gralam so for the next couple of weeks we are going to make this our focus.

Each day this week I will attach a different powerpoint presentation which teaches you about the Amazon Rainforest through art with an artist called John Dyer. You might want to remind yourself about how to turn stick men into life like humans with this clip (we used it right at the beginning of the year)   https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0114r6f

I have also attached an activity pack from Born Free which has all of the activities from the power points and some further areas of interest which you might be interested in. Have a look at links to David Attenborough programmes and other websites in the attached Home Learning Summer 2 Week 3 Plan

Discussion: Today we are going to share our favourite recipes we have made or favourite food we like to eat.

Have a wonderful day today. Sending you smiles and virtual hugs,

Mrs Evans smiley

Message from Mrs Powell:

Alex Staniforth

Alex has had many barriers in his young life but found that he had a passion for the outdoors at a very young age.  He found that if he was outside he was happy and chose many challenges including two attempts up Everest which failed due to an earthquake and avalanche. He said that we can’t always choose our challenges but we can choose how we respond to them.  He says that Everest was just one step on his journey and his mission is to help others discover their own Everest in life and go for it.  Alex is an amazing person, remember you can achieve anything in life that you want to do.  Many years ago Alex went to school in Cheshire just like you do, I know because I taught him.  I wonder what you will achieve and what your Everest will be?  He and I would both say, you can do anything!  I have emailed him recently and he has promised to come and talk to you all in school when it is safe to do so.
