Mrs Judge 2018 - 2019
Mr Lostock Gralam CofE Primary School
This year I am working with Year 5 and 6 teaching Literacy. In the mornings, we follow our Pathways to Write scheme and in the afternoons, we do booster work in reading and writing.
The children work in smaller groups in the Rainbow Room where we have lots of hands on resources.
I love making learning fun for the children and we play lots of games, make up silly rhymes and sing funny songs to help us with our learning.
I also run Homework club or booster sessions every Monday after school to support children with their homework. There's even a drink and a snack for doing all that hard work!
In Year 5, we are doing lots of creative writing inspired by the novel 'The Hunter'. The text fits in perfectly with our zoo project and we are all very much looking forward to our trip next month.
In Year 6, we are planning some journalistic report writing based around the book 'The Island'. The text is a narrative non-fiction based on the formation of the Galapagos Islands. The children have already become scientists and are researching endemic species.
In Year 5, we perfected our newspaper reporting and diary writing skills through our class book ‘Queen of the Falls’ and wrote an eerie narrative inspired by 'The Lost Happy Endings'.
In Year 6, we wrote emotional narratives inspired by the text ‘Star of Fear, Star of Hope’ which is set during the time of the Holocaust and did some formal writing based on the classic story 'The Selfish Giant'.
