Welcome to our Website

Home Learning 2020 - 2021

Welcome to Lostock's home learning page. On here, we will provide resources that will support learning at home - we hope that this helps in continuing ‘a love learning’ at home.

English

You can download resources below that have been provided by The Literacy Company free of charge. Thank you so much to Linda, Cath and the team - you are amazing!

Maths

Also below, are some resources that First4Maths have given to us, also free of charge. Again, thank you so much to Sarah, Toni and their team for providing these for us. Such fabulous resources!

Additional resources from First4Maths are now here to download also. Cooking with Maths and Arty Maths, they have some great practical ideas that we can do at home.

We also recommend the White Rose Home Learning webpage. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/

We also recommend the Gareth Metcalf resources ISeeReasoning. These go hand in hand with his online lessons. (Email has been sent to expain) http://www.iseemaths.com/home-lessons/

Take a look at some fabulous cooking activities which will help with your measuring and other maths skills.

There are also some fun Easter Maths activities if you would like to take a look. Nothing tricky, all lovely practical ideas. The document is called "Easter Maths Fun".

Some great family playing card games and activities have been uploaded. Take a look! The document is called 'Playing Card Maths'.

Here are some further fantastic Maths ideas for your daily walks. The document has been uploaded and is called "Walking Maths".

Another fabuloous resource that links maths to outdoor activitiy called "Active Maths" has been uploaded for you to enjoy.

Church School

As a church school, part of our work is with the Arch Bishop of York Youth Trust. They have given us ideas for our children to complete with their families at home. The resources are from their 'Young Leaders at Home' pack. The work focuses on our Christian Values at home and in our community. They are lovely activities such as making a kindness post card that our children can engage with.

At the bottom of the page, you will find Rainbow Feelings Pack which can be printed out. It is a child friendly journal/log for the children to explain what the virus is. There are also spaces for our children to express their feelings about this strange situation that we find ourselves in.

You will also find a resource called 'Covid-19 Time Capsule Sheets' which is a lovely resource that your child could have a go at during this time.

PE

We know our children love to keep active and healthy so here are some activities from the Youth Sport Trust website which they might enjoy doing at home.

Something useful for everyone with children below:

This is a Government document regarding advice for parents and carers who are looking after children during this time. It is an easy but valuable read for us all. It will help us explain to our children what we are all experiencing at the minute and deepen their understanding of why we are not all at school together.

We thought that you might like to try this 30 day nature challenge from The Wildlife Trust. It looks fabulous. It is all things nature, wild and wonderful!

Their website says:

"This June, join thousands of people taking part in our annual nature challenge, 30 Days Wild! We want you to do one wild thing a day throughout the whole month: for your health, wellbeing and for the planet. That’s 30 simple, fun and exciting Random Acts of Wildness."
